I am usually skeptical of first release technology (Airplay) on a newly released product. I waited almost a month before I found this item in stock after the pre-release press. After hooking the device up to my network, and connecting the 7 speakers, I had the Yamaha app downloaded and running airplay in less than 5 minutes. My Android, IPOD Touch, and IPAD2 all worked without any issues. I have the receiver in a media room with 7 speakers and it beats the Dennon hands down. I have had two Dennons and both were plagued with problems and I will never buy another. I can control this device from anywhere in the house (as long as I am withing WI-FI connect).

The only downside I see so far, is the device does not support Pandora for music streaming, but I can use an IPOD touch on a different AV source to solve the Pandora streaming. Not all the remote functions work with the app but the major items such as inputs, sound selection, work great.

Also, I see that... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars rx-v573, May 10, 2012

Purchased this unit from J&R in lower Manhattan with 5.1 polk tl250- waiting on sub... Got a pretty good deal, they knocked $50 off receiver and $50 off speakers.

So once I carried these suckers home on subway I had 5.1 wired up in a couple of hours. Set up YPAO without trip pod and calibrated once, played some tunes, sounded ok, used my tri pod, and man did that make a difference. The sound is beautiful, considering I am lacking a sub woofer-so consequently not so great with hip hop (actually roots sounding great right now) but jazz shines...

Eventually I plan to wire zone B in bedroom, gonna get a couple more polk tl250 satellites. Looking forward to sound throughout house.

I had a lot of trouble getting my mac pro vga>hdmi and digital out working properly running through the rx-v573. The on screen GUI is seriously lacking on this yamaha, it needs some polish for sure. I found all other integration strait forward, my apple tv3, xbox 360, and... Read more

Great receiver! Quick note that none of the network functions worked for me until I upgraded to firmware v1.08 (from v1.04). Setup consists of Polk Audio TSi300 and PSW505 (and some unknown surrounds). OSD could use a little spicing up, otherwise sound is fantastic!
